Ezekiel College of Theology School Farm
At Ezekiel College of Theology, we believe in sustainable living, self-sufficiency, and practical education. Our school farm is an essential part of our institution, serving as both a food source and a learning facility. It provides students with hands-on experience in agriculture and livestock management, which aligns with our commitment to equipping them with life skills beyond theological education. Students are trained not just for ministry but also for self-sufficiency, no matter where they find themselves.
What We Have on Our Farm
1. Crop Farming
Our farm boasts over 1,000 yam plants, making yam one of our staple crops. Yam is a major food source, and our farm provides a sustainable supply for the college. Students also get to learn the process of cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting yams, which is a valuable agricultural skill.
2. Poultry Farming
We have more than 750 layer chickens on our farm. These birds provide a steady supply of fresh eggs, which are used for feeding students and staff. The poultry farm also offers practical training in:
Chicken rearing and feeding
Disease prevention and farm management
Egg production and distribution
Students interested in agriculture can gain firsthand experience in poultry management, which can be beneficial for future personal or community-based farming projects.
3. Livestock Farming
Our farm is also home to a variety of livestock, including:
Goats
Cows
Sheep
These animals contribute to the college’s food supply and serve as an additional resource for students to learn about animal husbandry, feeding, breeding, and healthcare management. 4. Snail Farming
In addition to our crops and livestock, we also rear snails, which are a rich source of protein and have high economic value. Snail farming is relatively low-maintenance and provides students with insights into alternative farming methods that require minimal space and resources.
